As you may know, we cycle to work most days rather than drive or take the train. Yesterday it just so happened I had to drive in to work and it took me a very long time to get in to work. For a while I have been wondering how long exactly it takes me on the bike and how that compares to the other modes of transport. Hence, today I timed my self as we cycled in. The results were as follows:
- 04.02 – getting ready to go
- 33.24 – cycling to work
- 02.58 – parking and getting to changeing room
- 05.54 – changeing clothes
All in all it took 46 minutes. The train in comparison takes approx. 10, 10, 20, 10 minutes or 50 minutes in all. When I cycle fast in it takes me upto 10 minutes less so when i dont have to change clothes and cycle fast the overall time is about 30 minutes and I get really good exercise. I hope I never get too lazy to keep up this lifestyle.

well difference is – when you cycle you get tired – you use power etc etc. With train easy pizy let him to struggle hehhe
true, and when I am lazy like tonight, I take the train home with my bike
there are 3 things I dislike about the trains here: 1) you never know how long you have to wait once you get to the trainstation, it can be anywhere between a few minutes to half an hour 2) they are more often than not late and 3) during peek hours the cariges are packed like sardine tins and those who are at the later stations sometimes dont even get into the train because its too full. If the situation wasnt as bad is it is here, and the trains ran on time, were max 5 mins apart on peak hour and not so full, I would probably take the train 1-2 times a week.
well, this is what you get when you live in busy, big and crowded city. You just have to get used to it. Iceland – hurra! easy going and don´t need such. Sometime you stuck with traffic -well that usually during winter due to snow. other than that its perfect.
