It has been a good week

This week two of my long standing goals came to fruitition; I graduated with a BSc degree and got a Residency VISA til live and work in Australia. Now there is nothing prohibiting us moving to the other side of the globe as Suzy wishes to so once the summer is over I will buy my ticket to Australia and leave my home for some score of years. Between here and then though is a whole summer of fun. Although it doesnt have the same ring to it as “The summer of 69″ does, the Icelandic summer of ‘07 will be remembered for a long time. A big thank you to all those who came to celebrate with us on saturday night, it was a great night.

Goal #3 “Finish my degree” completed

success.pngToday I got my final grade before graduating with a batchelors in business administration. That means I have finished my degree and hence completed goal #3 on my 43Things list. I will even be graduating with a “First degree” as it is called here. I will leave checking it off though untill I receive the graduation papers. The graduation will be on the 16th of june.

Paper progress meter at 3/10

Right , it´s crunchtime with my paper. Only one month to go before I have to hand in the final version and plenty yet to be done. The braindumping period was quite nice, I just kept writeing what ever came to mind to get it out there. Now I am starting the real grinding and that is more of a get-down-to-business kind of stuff. This weekend is meant to be the big-progress weekend but honestly I am finding it really hard to get intoit. This blog post is actually just procrastination :)

Finished my last exam with a nice pass!

From Ugla with love

Today I finally received the grade for my final exam at the University of Iceland. It was the course “Business Law A” and I got 8 out of 10, which is quite acceptable for the effort I put in. Now I just have to finish my paper and I am done! The graduation will be in June and we will definately celebrate nicely.

The final paper has been a thorn in the side of many would-be-graduates over the years, including mine. When I was about to finish my degree many years ago I only had the paper and a few courses to complete before graduating. My ambitions were high regarding the paper, I was going to write about the theoretical “conversion of the Icelandic fishing fleet from oil to hydrogen energy”. No small task there. I was told this was more suitable for a master- or doctors thesis but I didn’t listen. Of course I never completed the paper and delayed my graduation for quite a few years.

Now I’ve decided to write a business plan about an idea I have for a business. This is within the scope of my studies at the uni and good practice to do something that I have been meening to do for a long time, namely to write up a plan for one of my business ideas. Yesterday I approached a professor to supervise my paper. His name is Örn and is a specialist in enteprenurial studies. We met up and went through my proposal for the paper which he accepted. He decided that his role besides general guidance will be to act as the potential investor in my company. He will therefore criticise my plans till they become sound enough to sell. I quite look forward to this as I have usually not had someone review my business ideas in this way. Now I just have to get going on the writing side on things :)
